I joined my high school track and field team my freshman year which only lasted about 2 weeks before Covid shut it down but I have loved every second of it. The most important thing about track and field to me is the family I have gained from it. I have been in sports my whole life and never really found the one that stuck and never had a good connection with coach and teammates. But since joining track and field I have found the best coaches I could ask for and they have taught me so much and my teammates have shown me nothing but love and all of us just have fun while also pushing each other to be better. I can confidently say that the family I have been apart of these past few years have been a big contributor to my success as well.
Because of my passion for what I do and what this team means to me I no longer see it as something I have to do but rather something I look forward to every single day. It doesn't take any convincing me to show up to practice or lifting and if anything you would have to convince me to stop going. It has become my favorite thing to do when I am bored now. My coaches have always seen the work I put in and the leadership I show among my teammates and that was the reason that all my coaches chose me to lead my team as a captain for my senior year.
My ultimate goal for my senior year is to break the school discus record of 137'11" and make up for missing the state championship last year and to get a medal when I get there. I have been working non-stop since missing it last year and have made great progress so far and I don't plan on stopping now. After that, I want to take my passion and love for the sport to the next level and compete in college. I feel like my high school career is just starting and I know I have more to prove by doing so at the next level.
Along side competing and attending college I am also joining the military to become a United States Marine. I will be going to basic training this summer and finish my job school hopefully around the beginning of December. After that I will go into the reserves in order to have plenty of time for academics and athletics. I hope that will not be a hindrance in my eligibility to compete but I guarantee I will always give 110% when I am competing and practicing.
I hope you will consider me for your team and I ask that you watch my progress throughout this season because there is a lot to come this year!
