I may only be a Sophomore and may have just competed in my first year of Varsity Cross Country and Track, but my work ethic and determination is second to none! I was asked by the high school distance coach to run up and join the high school team for 2023 but sadly our board denied the request. My dad was a very accomplished distance runner in high school and his love of running has carried over in me. I’m more determined than ever to meet my 2024 goals of PR in the track and field distance events. This past year my parents have went above and beyond in supporting me and brought a 30 yr running track coach out of retirement to train one in with me. I’m very grateful for this opportunity and take it all very serious. I also transferred to a new school this year as I knew to meet the goals I wanted to achieve that would not be possible under my past coach. Because of this transfer i am only allotted to run JV for Cross Country in 2024. Despite this disappointment, I am currently ranked number 3 in the state of Montana and number 1 in Class B. This past weekend 10/5/24, I set a venue record by over 22 seconds in a 45 mph wind. Today 10/12/24 I set another course record by over 31 seconds!
My mom is a registered nurse of 24 years and watching her help some many has inspired me to take my love for running and mix it with health and medicine. I’m looking forward to exploring the sports medical field.
I’ve learned through watching my parents that being successful at such levels requires a ton of discipline and at times missing out on things. I’m fully committed to this and very excited to see the opportunities set before me.
