Growing up in a different country, I was exposed to various lifestyles and scenarios. In 2010 my parents and I moved to the states and the transition was quite difficult. The adjustment to the new environment formed my character and values. I learned to never be afraid to express myself, and be proud of standing out. Instead of trying to blend in with the crowd, I kept true to my beliefs and intuitions, and eventually made a respected name for myself. In addition, I had to work exceptionally hard to catch up and learn the language, and developed a desire to excel in everything I do. I matured in the process with the help of my brothers who are in the military, and they passed the lessons and morals they were taught to me.
Those morals and values I acquired reflect on me as an athlete and student. From my first track practice, I knew I wanted to be the best. After practice, I often stayed later and did drills by myself. In addition, I went to a hurdling clinic every Sunday to improve my skills. During off-season, I train five times a week, twice with a strength trainer and three times with a hurdling and sprinting trainer. I am dedicated and willing to work hard to achieve my goals. Academically, I am not afraid to take on a challenge. As an AP and honor student, I put time and effort into my schoolwork and make sure to go beyond what is expected. I have tremendous work ethic that has enabled me to be succesful in every aspect of my life, whether it be academics or athletics.
