Destiny DeBlock '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Destiny DeBlock. I am an incoming senior at Morris Catholic High School and an all-state caliber middle distance runner/hurdler/jumper. My freshman year, I decided to join the track team to improve my speed and endurance for soccer and basketball. It was evident that I had a natural talent for running when I started beating upper class who had more experience under their belt. I was enlightened my sophomore year and now know that talent alone is not enough to run with the  elite. My Junior year I decided to drop basketball and focus on improving my skills for track. It was then that my coach introduced me to HJ in hopes to score points for our team. I went from 4’ to 4’10” my winter season and PRD to 5’4” during sectionals of spring season which placed me first and led me to MOC with a 5’2” at groups. I also managed to take a first in the triple jump at sectionals with a 35’9” which also led me to qualify for MOC. My training during both winter and spring track seasons have unfolded new gifts that I am eager to pursue. I have come a long way since the beginning of my track career and am looking for a coach that is capable of igniting me to my fullest potential through inspirational encouragement, assertiveness and compassion which are the qualities that motivate me to thrive. During my track vocation at Morris Catholic, I’ve been fortunate enough to qualify for the NJ State Meet of Champions in all four events (HJ, TJ, 100H and 400H) and I am expecting to compete next year as well.  I also received 1st Team All County honors for Morris County my junior year (2019). Furthermore, I had the opportunity to compete at New Balance Nationals in NC both my sophomore and junior year. This year, my teammates and I placed 6th overall in the championship section of the SMR, earning All-American status. This is only the beginning. I eagerly await the challenges that lie ahead and look forward to starting the next chapter of my track and field career.
