Lila Ashton '25 Recruiting Profile

OVERVIEW

• I’m Lila Ashton, a current junior at Morris Catholic High School in northern New Jersey who is interested in running cross country in college! I should specify that I’m looking to put my classes and grades first within my college career; however, if I can use my love of running and ability to benefit my admissions chances and also improve beyond what I believed was my limit, I will happily take that along with my academics. I’m looking for an academically rigorous school with lots of activities for me to get involved in aside from running– anything else can be negotiated.

ABOUT ME

• I am currently captain of the MCHS cross country team. I have run varsity for the three years I have been here. My sophomore year’s 5K PR was 23:43, and this year, I knocked it down about a minute, making my current PR 22:47. I have been running on a team since third grade, totaling to ten years as of junior year. I set the schoolwide record in junior high for the most miles raced at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (attended for 11 years). I have become increasingly enthusiastic about being a lifetime runner because of the love and support of our “small but mighty” team, and I hope to share that energy with another group in higher education.
• I want to encourage anyone reading this to check out my listed classes and awards and extracurricular activities. I’m planning to have taken around 12 AP courses by the end of senior year. I am also interested in public speaking (forensics), writing (speeches and poetry), music (piano, choir and theater-- including a 2023 lead role), and some newer niche interests like speedcubing and figure skating. I have a limited working proficiency in French. Some majors I adore include biology, pathology, psychology, and pre-law.
