Mackenzie Morante '23 Recruiting Profile

I’m Mackenzie Morante, a rising Junior at Ramapo High school. My defining quality is my urge to do my best in every scenario possible. I am a very goal-oriented person, and extremely well-rounded.

I became a member of our Varsity winter and spring track teams my sophomore year specializing in jumps and hurdles. I started jumping halfway into this spring season, and have only done so in 5 large meets. My first mark was 33’7” and I went on to improve at almost every meet, increasing my mark by approximately one foot at each meet. I advanced at Sectionals and was eligible to compete in Groups but unfortunately contracted COVID. This eliminated my chance to compete at State Meet of Champions. Nevertheless, I persevered and entered the East Coast Championships unattached and achieved my current PR. My rapid improvement demonstrates the extent of my unlocked potential for next year and my college career. I am now the #1 returning triple jumper in Bergen County, NJ, and the #9 returning jumper in the state for next year.

Academically, I am a self-motivated and diligent student. I have gotten all As every marking period so far, made the superintendent’s Honor roll every quarter, and taken all Honors classes Freshmen year and two AP courses Sophomore year. I received a 5 on my AP exam.  I would like to major in either History or Veterinary Medicine. 

Some other activities I am interested in are Guitar, Painting, Hiking, Boating, Soccer, Snowboarding, Wakeboarding, Singing, Activism, Horseback riding, caring for animals (dogs, cats, horses, etc.), Model UN, Politics, and Community Service and Volunteering.
