Personal Statement

My name is Samantha Leo and I am most passionate about running track and field. I have good sportsmanship and believe in working with my team so we can all accomplish our goals together.

My personal goals are to keep breaking my records in my best events but also accepting that to get there I need to be patient, trust the process, and be confident with my progression throughout the season and continue to do so in the following years. I strive to do my very best in athletics as well as academics and to always give maximum effort so that even if the outcome is not necessarily what I had hoped for, I can be satisfied with knowing I gave it everything I had.

I have eleven years of experience in track but I know I still have a lot to learn. The times I want to achieve aren’t always going to come quickly so I need to continue to work hard so I can experience that one exciting moment when I reach my goals. I am hoping to run track and field in college and use that experience to benefit me as an athlete and as a person. I have grown to understand what motivates me to be a hardworking runner. Such as taking time outside of track practice to get better at my technique and stay in shape, taking the time at home to prepare for my track meets efficiently and effectively, and most importantly using the competition and others around me to push me to use my strengths to the best of my abilities. I know that running in college will give me the opportunity to run against dedicated runners like me. It will also allow me to be on a team with faster and more experienced people than me that I can support but also use to learn from, improve my times, and push me to do well.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
