I have just begun my Senior year at Point Pleasant Borough High School. I have been involved in sports since the age of 5, where I have played all different levels of soccer and basketball. I was first introduced to track & field during Middle School and have continued to make this sport my main priority.
During my Freshman year I met with a lot of success and my accomplishments were not only on an individual basis but also as part of a team. I was the only female freshman to qualify and be invited to run at the Eastern States Championships at the New Balance Armory in New York. I was the anchor on our school's 4x100 team; which not only broke our school record that was set in 2009, but we continued to break our own record four more times. I also had the honor of being invited to run at the Penn Relays with my 4x100 team.
Going into my sophomore year I was excited to challenge myself to have another successful year. Unfortunately, due to a minor injury, my season started later than sooner. After working with the school athletic trainer and seeing a physical therapist I was back on the track and competing with my team. Although some may have looked at this as a set-back, I used this as motivation to work hard so that I could come back stronger not only for myself but for my team as well.
During my junior year, my coaches challenged me to take on a new event and they had me running in the 400m relays as well as individually. I embraced the challenge and look forward to continuing to work on this event this year, while striving to improve my times in the 100m and 200m.
I am looking forward to continue running competitively for my high school and into my college years. Being part of team is something that has always been important to me and I consider myself to be a good teammate. I am hardworking, dedicated, and focused. Being part of a team is like being part of a family and where we support and encourage each other on and off the track.
