I want to run track and/or cross country at the highest possible level in college. I have been running since 5th grade when I joined the TSC Track Club in my hometown. During the night of our first practice, we ran four miles in thirty degree weather, and I truly enjoyed it. Ever since then running has become a passion and I strongly desire to compete throughout college.
I learned through years of soccer, gymnastics, and earning my black belt in Taekwondo, that individual training to develop one's own skills and endurance is significantly important in contributing to the team. For example, the day after my gymnastics season ends, I make it a point to start my training for track the very next day. Likewise, I run throughout the summer to ensure that I am prepared to immediately contribute to my cross country team's success when the fall season starts. In fact, because of my preparation in the off-season, my coaches have recently named me a Captain for my track team as a sophomore.
Although all of the sports that I participate in now are more individual in nature, I feel a sense of obligation to always contribute to my team's success. Throughout all of my experiences in sports and school, I have learned that self-discipline in developing my skills as an individual are crucial to any team. I think this attitude along with my work ethic and self-discipline would be an asset to any college.
Finally, I believe a person should be well rounded. I take pride in earning straight A's while the majority of my classes are Advanced or AP. I also participate in Model UN and the World Language Honor Society at school. I also play guitar and take lessons on a weekly basis. I would love to bring these talents and life experiences to my future college.
