Hi! My name is Emma Halsey and I am a junior at Hampton Bays High School. I have been running competitively since eighth grade and would love the opportunity to continue in college. I am a three season athlete and participate in cross country, winter and spring track. My main events are hurdles, sprints and jumps, but I am open to more.
I think of myself as a team leader. I always do my best to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working athletes for my team and my coaches.
Outside of running, I take my academics very seriously and study hard. I maintain a high GPA every quarter and am currently enrolled in 3 AP courses and our science research program. I am a member of our school's Interact Club and volunteer with many local and global service projects. Through Interact Club, I have been able to participate in RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) in the spring, summer and this fall. I hope to become a facilitator next spring.
I want to attend a university where I can thrive both academically and athletically. I plan on pursuing my love for science, majoring in biology.
