I have always been the type of person to try new things. I first joined the track team in eighth grade because I wanted to try something new that would keep me active other than my travel volleyball team. When the coaches had introduced throwing to us, I immediately took a liking to it. I genuinely enjoyed the feeling of improvement, whether it was one inch or one foot.
Not only did I make lifelong friends through throwing, but it really gave me confidence I'd been lacking for so long. Whenever I'm at a meet and with my team, I feel like a part of something and I wish to continue that. In high school, throwing gave me a better understanding of who I am and made me realize I'm good at something other than my academics.
I wish to continue throwing at the collegiate level while getting an education for teaching because I think I am very coachable, have good character, and a positive attitude. I also want to continue throwing because I think it's fun, I want to meet new people, and I want to push myself to be an even better athlete.
