My love of racing started at the age of five when I began to swim competitively. In seventh grade a friend of mine convinced me to join cross country to stay in shape for swimming. I quickly realized running would be something much more than something I did for fun. I have learned that competitive distance running requires patience and confidence in yourself, your team, and your coaching. In the past four years running has slowly become one of the biggest parts of my life. My best friends have been met through running and some of the biggest role models in my life have been older runners I competed with when I was still in middle school.
My plans for college would be to grow in my future career. I am planning to major in biology or neuroscience and then go to medical school for psychiatry. To run at a collegiate level a would help me reach my full potential and make life-long friends. I am hard-working, determined, and I have a positive attitude, even when faced with adversary.
At the Grand Forks Sertoma Invitational Track Meet on April 19, 2016, my 4x800 team set a meet record a with a time of 9:47.38 and I set a meet record in the 3200 with a time of 11:08.84.
I would be an asset for a collegiate long distance team because of my love for running and my determination to lower my times, as well as my teammates' times. I am an honor student who values everyone who crosses my path. I will work as hard in the classroom as I do on the track. I always act with integrity and will carry the team's values on and off of the track.
