I want to continue to do track and field in college because I fell in love with the sport.
My school did not have pole vault equipment or opportunities until my junior year but I have always wanted to be a pole vaulter. Last year I got the opportunity to learn how to pole vault and I fell in love. I trained before spring season and jumped my high of 8’1 not that good but for first year it’s great. I have continued to train over the summer and plan to vault for indoor and spring season. I hope that with training I will continue to vault higher and learn better technique to vault better.
As for running I have ran track since the 3rd grade but as a distance runner and ran a 5.51 mile. Up until I had to stop training due to a back injury and never fully got back into it. I now run middle distance running the 800m and the 400m as well as their relays. I am capable of running both the 800 and 400 but enjoy the open 400m and 4x400 much more than the 800m.
