My family, friends and personal passions have influenced me to become a runner. I played tennis most my life. After my Freshman year, I decided that tennis was not my passion. I wanted a change. My family introduced me to cross country. Through cross country, I have been able to become more assertive in the decisions I want to make. I have also learned that I should not compare myself to others and look down on my abilities. I have found that running has made me a more organized person and helps me focus on positive goals.
I have had to overcome some obstacles during my running career. One of those obstacles was last season when I was found to have a heart condition called SVT. My cross country season was interrupted early and I ended up having surgery to fix the condition. My season didn't go the way that I envisioned it, but I am now more determined to make improvements in my running career.
After high school, I would like to go to college. I'm still evaluating the majors, but I know that I want to help others.
