My name is Lauren Moses. I am currently a junior at Tallmadge High School (near Akron, Ohio). I have a nontraditional path that has brought me to compete in Track and Field beginning as a junior. I was a highly competitive gymnast (level 10) and a Junior Olympic National Qualifier (national championship), but due to several factors I was forced to leave that sport. I am now excited to compete in Track and Field and use the same drive that took me to the top in gymnastics to push me to try and do the same in Track and Field. As a competitive athlete for most of my life, I know how to compete and I look forward to challenging myself against college athletes in the future. I have a strong work ethic both in school and on the track. I currently have a 4.2 GPA and am ranked 9th in my class.
I am open to trying new and different events, but my coach has told me that due to my overall athleticism I may translate well to the heptathalon, pole vault, and long jump. I had not touched a pole before January of 2018 so I was very excited to reach 9'6 in 4-5 months and win the district meet for my school. I was fortunate enough to represent my school at the Ohio State meet.
My goals beyond track are to do well in school and contribute to the college I choose in any way possible. At this point, I am looking for a school that can provide me with a solid science background since I plan to enter the medical field.
