Dear Coach,
My name is Nya Blades and I am currently a grade 12 student from Brampton, ON who runs track with The Speed Academy. My goal is to be able to continue to be a great student athlete who is able to focus on running and becoming a psychiatrist. This has been my focus from a very young age.
Last year as a grade 10 student I was able to compete in my first Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) series of meets where I would continuously compete in meets and place in the top 5, in order to qualify and advance to the next track meet. I placed first in both my regional and south regional meets in the junior girls 80m hurdles with a time of 12.64 and 12.40. I then made it to finals with a time of 12.43 at the final OFSAA meet where the fastest athletes in Ontario competed. I also ran a 100m at regionals and south regionals with a time of 13.40.
From a young age I have been a natural athlete who has competed in many sports and arts such as basketball, volleyball, flag football and competitive dance. Despite having tried many physical activities, no sport has stuck out to me like track has. There's no better feeling to me then stepping onto the track and successfully completing a hurdle or sprint race. Throughout these past 6 years that I have been running it has helped me become an extremely versatile and resilient individual who does not allow small mishaps to deter me from my larger goals. Which is why I love track and competing. I am grateful for every lesson, opportunity, skill and relationship that I have gained from being a track and field athlete.
I hope you are able to help me succeed in my goals and consider me for your track and field program.
Sincerely,
Nya Blades
