2024 SpotlightBeing an athlete is an important part of my life. Ever since I can remember, I have been involved in sports. Entering into grade 9, I took every opportunity to tryout and participate in the sports offered, from basketball to volleyball, and badminton. As of the Spring of my freshman year, I gave shot put & javelin a try, coming 1st and 2nd respectively and qualifying for the next level. While I was both proud and excited by these initial achievements, I also remember how much I enjoyed the atmosphere of a track & field meet -- competitive but also so supportive at the same time, with the focus on PB's. After that school season, I joined my local track & field club and my throwing journey began. Since that time, I have been so fortunate to participate in a number of different meets, outdoors and more recently indoors, including at a number of Ontario Provincial Championships & at the National level. I hold the KASSAA record in Sophmore Shot Put and I qualified and competed at the highest level of high school, being OFSSAA. I have thrown PB's at major meets, including Provincial Championships and Legion Nationals. I am committed to my training and to growing in the sport I have come to love. It is absolutely wonderful to travel for this sport and meet so many wonderful people along the way. It is my goal to throw at the college level and also have the opportunity to focus on and achieve my academic goals, with medicine as the ultimate academic goal. To me, my academic and athletic goals go hand-in-hand -- I thrive when challenged and keeping a balance in my life. I am very excited about the future. Javelin might be a thing of the past, but I am so excited about the learning, developing, and growth still to come -- still lots "in the tank"!! I have added hammer throw & weight throw to my training and could not be more excited about the same!
