My name is Shayla Hillstrom, I am a senior at Tillamook High School in Tillamook Oregon. I am very passionate about track and field and I have developed an interest in coaching and athletic training throughout these last couple of years. I have been participating in track and field since the 6th grade and I have fallen in love with the sport. I have gone through ups and downs; failures and successes. No matter how hard it is, I push through; for me and my team. This is who I am, and what I strive to be every single day. I am a prominent leader on our track team, and I greatly enjoy teaching others the skills that I know so they can strive to accomplish their goals. Being a part of this sport and having the opportunity to teach and help others has made a great impact on who I am today. I have learned great leadership skills, how to work with different people with different backgrounds, how to solve problems that might not have a quick fix, and most of all hard work, consistency, and perseverance. I want to help others not only in their sport but also in life. I have learned that your coaches, friends, and family greatly impact who you are and who you are going to be. I want to be that person for someone who not only pushes them to be the best version of themselves but who is also there for them during the best and the worst.
