Mackenza Spangler '24 Recruiting Profile

I've grown up listening to the stories of my grandparents reliving their glory days on the track and in the throwing ring, and I've always thought, "I want to do that someday". Though I happened to get a little side-tracked, I've never given up the dream to throw at a collegiate level, and maybe one day professionally.

I've been training year round for discus and shot put. In discus I throw using the spin technique and I have been honing in on small tweaks and fixes to have better form, and I've been throwing using the glide technique in shot put, But I'm always open to new techniques and ways to better myself. I am a very fast learner and easy to coach. I strive to be the hardest working one on the team in order to better myself and earn my title of captain. 

I'm also a very quick learner in the classroom, I maintain a 4.0 GPA and I am a member of both student council and the career club at our school. I hope to attend a college that is both athletically and academically competitive so I can push myself to be better both in the classroom and the throwing ring. 

Though I throw mainly discus and shot put I would be open to trying any new events and pushing myself to do new things.
