Hello, my name is Addie Fry and I have just recently transferred schools and am about to start my junior year at Bellefonte Area High School. During my freshman year of cross country, while competing for Indiana Area Senior High School, I won individual and team titles for the Crimson Hawk Invitational and the Indiana County Championship. Throughout the season I continued to place top 25 at every invitational and went on to qualify for states at 14 years old. I also was the first female to win athlete of the week for our county gazette and made the All- County State Team. Continuing on with my freshman year, I continued to set three school records (along with teammates) for the 800m (2:26), 4x4 (1:02 split), and 4x200m (27.89 split). My outdoor track season was not as successful as I struggled with patella tendonitis issues.
Going into my sophmore cross country season, competing for Indiana, I continued to struggle with patella tendon injuries and was limited to only a few meets throughout the season. Despite not being able to run often, I set a personal record in the 5k with a time of 20:11.03. Not being healthy enough to run at our WPIAL championships sparked something inside me and pushed me to cross train and rehab in order to get past this long set back. Going into my sophmore indoor track season, I went on to break my own 800m record with a time of 2:24.53 and help the team break the 4x200m record of 1:54.56. Outdoor track transitioned smoothly with no injury flare up’s as well, and I had a successful season, setting personal records in the 800m (2:20.56), 400m (1:01.43), and 200m (27.26).
Since I first started competing in Junior High, I knew running was something I wanted to do in college. I have a competitive spirit, in practice as much as on race day, and have always trained hard for the opportunity to attend a college that will push me athletically, as much as it does academically. I am a respectful, coachable, and hard working athlete who strives everyday to be the best version of myself that I can possibly be. I am looking for a college that has good sportsmanship among teammates, and a program that challenges me. Having a close athlete to coach relationship is another thing I value, and will keep in mind while I begin this recruiting process. I love running and I am beyond excited to take the next step in my athletic and academic journey.
