My name is Ester Mokonchu and I am part of the class of 2022 in Spring-Ford High School. I throw disc and shot put and I work to improve every day. I am currently consistently throwing 37’; my meet PR is still my freshman PR due to the lack of meets because of the pandemic.
Although I love throwing, academics comes first to me. Therefore, I am taking mainly AP and Honors classes and achieving very high grades in all my classes and I am a peer tutor in some of my classes.
I am in the Debate club and Model UN, in which I have won awards. I also play the saxophone in the school band. I have been playing since fourth grade
In addition to my school activities, I work at an enrichment center teaching kids after school three times a week. I am also very involved in my church youth group and I am one of the student leaders. Through my youth group, I get involved in projects supporting my community. We work with Convoy of Hope, providing and serving meals on holidays such as Christmas, painting homes and schools, doing yard work, helping with vacation bible school, donating and organizing necessities at shelters that hold victims of abuse and making sure it is a place of safety. I really like getting involved.
My ideal program is one in which I will be surrounded by people who will challenge me to grow as an athlete, support me to excel academically as well as help me grow as an individual outside my sport. On my part, I aim high, and will dedicate myself to hard work and contribute to the success of my track team and my college community through sports, academics and other aspects of the college life
