Competing something at the college level has been a dream of mine ever since I can remember. Although I just started pole vaulting in June of 2022, I can’t wait to be able to pursue it throughout my high school years and into college.
My journey started as a competitive gymnast where I was able to reach Level 9. In the Spring of 2022 I participated in Track for the first time….competing in the sprint events and javelin. In June, I attended a 2 day pole vault camp. As soon as I touched that pole and jumped for the first time, I immediately fell in love. This past January, I made the decision to quit gymnastics to focus all my attention on pole vault.
I am so proud of my first pole vault competition season. During the Indoor season, I achieved a PR of 10 ft, and equaled that height at the TSTCA championship meet which earned me a tie for 2nd place. Moving on to the Outdoor season I was able to clear 11 ft four times. I earned points to help our team win the District 7 WPIAL team championship, and equaled my 11 ft clearance at the WPIAL individual championship meet to earn a 7th place finish. Although I came up a little shy of qualifying to States, I am so proud of my improvement and consistency during my first season. I know I have the ability to jump so much higher, and I have big goals. I can’t wait to have a full summer of training before my Senior year!
I am a bit quiet at first, but once I get to know people, I am a very fun and outgoing person, and I love meeting new people. I absolutely love the team atmosphere that track/pole vault creates. In such a short time I have loved seeing my improvements, as well as watching others succeed. It has been so fun to meet and cheer people on, not only from my school, but from other schools and clubs as well!
I have had a job coaching gymnastics since I was 14, working with kids of all ages. The past two summers I have also had the opportunity to volunteer at a track camp at my high school for 2nd through 7th graders.
Athletics has done so much for me, and has really shaped me into the person I am, but academics have and always will come first. I have always kept myself extremely busy, but that has only helped teach me how to budget and prioritize my time. Right now I am interested in pursuing a degree in exercise and sport science, and possibly going to PT school.
