Growing up as the oldest daughter of two former NCAA Division I athletes, I always hoped playing a sport in college would be in my future as well. The more positive stories I heard from my parents about their experiences, the more I wanted to follow in their footsteps. Now I am driven to compete in college as an NCAA Division I long distance runner. Since racing my first 5K in third grade, running and the community surrounding it has become my safe space and a place where I can chase goals and even dreams. My sport has taught me how to lose with grace and win with even more grace. It has challenged me to learn how to lead a team of young runners this fall. Running has helped me hone my skills in learning from and communicating with my coaches. It has taught me how to efficiently manage training along with a very rigorous academic workload. I will bring all of these skills and experiences to a college program with the hopes of bettering myself as a runner, a student aspiring to attend medical school and as a person.
