Hello! I'm Grace Adams, a senior at Heritage High School, in Maryville, Tennessee. I have run track since the sixth grade and had my first season of cross-country as a high-school freshman. Last year's XC season included my first competition at Jesse Owens Classic in the "Large Schools" division where I ran a new PR of 19:57.24. This was short-lived as another 5 seconds were taken off in my next race (my current PR at 19:52). As the girl's XC team captain, I have enjoyed taking on this leadership role, which has included recruiting other girls as our team has been quite small. I take pride in seeing my team grow and excel, supporting each other along the way.
During the challenges of Covid-19, I continued to train on my own with guidance from my coach. I have consulted with a nutritionist to plan meals for improved athletic performance. I have also been working with a trainer to build my strength.
I had joined Fellowship of Christian Athlete 3DA (3-Dimensional Athlete) Leadership Academy, however, these activities were cut short due to Covid-19. I'm looking forward to learning more about participation in this and other leadership training opportunities!
Academically, I have taken AP Human Geography (scored 4), AP Language and Composition (Spring 2021) (scored 3), AP US History (Spring 2021) (scored 4). I have also taken and continue to take Honors classes for English, math, and science. As an elective, Criminal Justice has piqued my interest and earned dual credit at Roane State Community College. At this time, I'm considering pursuing a law degree with a special interest in adoption law. There are several undergraduate degrees that I am considering including policy studies, political science, family studies, and social work.
Within the community, I have volunteered, caring for horses, twice a week at Mane Support, a local equine grief therapy barn for the last two years, until the local facility had to close due to Covid-19. I enjoyed the time with the horses while supporting a wonderful cause. This last year I have also been a volunteer peer juror for Blount County Youth Court.
I have high aspirations to perform athletically at the next level. Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your team!
