Personal Statement

I have been competing in the sport of triathlon since I was 7 years old.  It evolved from kids races, to adult Sprint distance races, to Olympic distance races.  From the first time I crossed the finish line, I knew I was hooked!  I have been ranked as high as #1 in the country for triathlon and #1 in the country for duathlon.  As I began winning my broad age group (19 & under) and then winning overall female titles and surpassing many male competitors, national recognition for my accomplishments soon followed.  I have never been one to crave media attention.  Thus, I decided to find a more productive way to harness that attention for the greater good...and so, Team Ariana was created.

I formed Team Ariana when I was 12 as a vehicle to combine my triathlon career with my passion for helping homeless children.  The movement has grown exponentially with thousands of homeless children being impacted through over $150,000 in cash donations, goods and services resulting from Team Ariana.  I have also served as a mentor for hundreds of other children and adults working to motivate them to live a healthy lifestyle, find a passion, pursue it, and give back to their local communities in a meaningful way.  This has resulted in countless efforts to raise funds and awareness for hunger to domestic violence to animal welfare.  Plus, we have managed to inspire countless children to get off their social media and go outside to be active!  www.teamariana.org

It is my dream to compete in cross country in college and refine my speed skills so that I may apply it to a long triathlon career after college.  My ambition is to not only have a career after college, but I plan to race triathlon competitively as long as my body will allow.  I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of a team with a common goal of progression, strategy and victory.  I am eager to learn from another coach who will see my untapped potential and teach me the tools to be a better, faster, smarter runner.  My high school cross country experience has been an exceptional team bonding collaboration.  I want to continue that excitement and passion into my college years.

Training

  • I have been an elite triathlete since the age of 7 - http://www.teamariana.org/training.php
  • 9 years
  • "Healthy athletic performance" can be categorized as balance and listening to your body. I am currently coached by National Champion, Olympian and current professional triathlete Matty Reed. Together, we have honed my training strategies focusing on periodization, peaking for key races and staying injury free. In over 8 years of competing in nearly 100 triathlons and duathlons, I have never sustained an injury (knock on wood). I am a diligent student of nutrition and believe that rest is just as critical as interval training for speed. As a student, I continually challenge myself and explore various topics which interest me (i.e. AP Government). Many people do not realize that various stressors can have an adverse impact on athletic performance. Emotional stress from an imbalance at school and home can be just as detrimental to training and performance as the physical stress. For that reason, I work diligently to manage my life stress by taking Yoga and other avenues which allow me to balance my life. Forward thinking and planning are key to being successful in this pursuit.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
