My name is Abigail Mox, and I am currently a junior at Mecklenburg County High School in Virginia. I began running at an early age, and since then, it has become a crucial part of my life. I started competing in Track in seventh grade and Cross Country in eighth grade. Through running, I have developed as an athlete and have been fortunate to be part of a supportive team that feels like family. My team and coaches have recently selected me to be a Captain of our Cross Country team, this honor means so much to me. Their encouragement has been vital, especially when I could not compete. My experiences growing up, including living in different parts of the country and abroad due to my dad's job, have broadened my perspective and contributed to my growth as a person and an athlete. These experiences have taught me to be adaptable, responsible, and motivated.
For this athletic season, my primary goal is to break my previous personal records: a 20:28.6 in the Cross Country 5k, a 1:03.62 in the 400 meters, a 2:35.15 in the 800 meters, and a 5:35.68 in the 1600 meters. I have a history of breaking and maintaining records in various school events, including the 400-meter, sprint medley relays, 1600-meter, and 4x400-meter relays. I have won many Track and Cross Country competitions and Honorable Mention in Minnesota's South Suburban Conference Championship. I am committed to continuing my strength and conditioning training and improving my nutrition and hydration.
Academically, I am equally driven. I have consistently maintained high grades and received honor roll and science awards, including the Presidential Education Award. My involvement in organizations such as HOSA, Spanish Club, Beta Club, and various volunteer groups reflects my dedication to personal growth and community service. I was also offered the honor of representing my state at the national HOSA convention. I am eager to continue my athletic career at the collegiate level, where I hope to join a supportive team and a robust athletic program. I aim to thrive academically and athletically, build lasting friendships, and pursue my passions.
