As a member of Northern Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association (NVHAA), I am fortunate to be able to compete in high school sports. While I have competed for several seasons in volleyball and cross country, track has been my passion since 7th grade. Our team, made up of 50+ athletes and parent-coaches, attends meets (FAT timed) hosted by private, club, and homeschool teams in several states. We train on a 4-lane asphalt track, so I'm no stranger to shin-splints, and I am really looking forward to training on your synthetic surface in college! This off-season, I am focusing on weight training at the gym (4x/week), nutrition, self-care, and preseason training.
My involvement in homeschooling and track have allowed me to stand out in a positive way. I'm a self-starter, independent thinker and learner, highly motivated, and, above all, I know the value of teamwork. I absolutely love competing in the 4x400 and have become a leader on my relay. Often, I lead my team in core-workouts and this season, I have been asked by my coaches to lead in our new weight room! This spring, I look forward to combining track and community service while I organize and lead a Community Youth Track Camp for younger children.
Given my drop in times year after year, my dedication to the sport, and my ability to make new friends, I am confident that I will not only contribute, but thrive on a college team!
