Although the paths that I have considered taking in my life have varied sometimes by the day, the one thing that has always remained the same is the want to be a part of something that is bigger than me and to make a difference in the greater world around me. For me the first step in accomplishing these aspirations was to jump way out of my comfort zone. Prior to highschool I had never been on any type of athletic team and I was never somebody that you would qualify as an "athlete" but in highschool I realised that I could change that. Joining the track team with absolutely no experience at all was the perfect thing for me to do as at the time I really couldn't get any further out of my comfort zone. As I have moved through the sport I not only have changed distances but I have become a more dedicated and goal oriented person on and off the track. As my times got better so did my grades and soon I was beating my personal best almost every race and getting straight A's.
I have learned that you can go anywhere you want in life as long as you're willing to work for it. With my experience as an athletic training aide as well as an athlete and a student leader in National Honor Society I have learned and demonstrated resilience, determination, grit and an overwavering pride for my school and the effort I put in everyday to achieve my goals. I am certain that with time I will become an even stronger and well rounded individual and I will carry these aspects of myself wherever I go to college.
