I have completed my first year of college as a Collegiate Athlete at Bushnell University. Managing classes, school work, living on your on and being an athlete was definitely challenging, but I was committed to making sure I succeeded in my first year of college. I feel as though I have grown and matured a lot having to live on my own and manage my life as a college student. It was definitely an eye opener and made me appreciate my parents so much more for all the sacrifices they have made for me.
My first year as a collegiate track athlete was challenging at Bushnell University trying to balance it all, but I did it. I broke some school records at the university in the 200, 400 and our 4x100 and 4x400 relay team as well, which I was part of, my teammates were awesome. I also broke some of my own personal records and I feel like it was a good year for me. I also received Athlete of the Year for my first year of college track and the The Newcomer of the Year Award. Pretty exciting for my first year as a college athlete. I am excited for the next chapter indeed, which is why I am looking to transfer. My track coaches were great, they really did look out for me and always wanted me to thrive and rise to my full potential, they always pushed me to believe in myself and my ability on the track. Although the track coaches were pretty awesome, I also found that Bushnell University wasn't for me, for others it was great, but I didn't feel like it was the right fit for me. Which is why I am looking to transfer and to continue to pursue my collegiate career as a track athlete. I am looking for a school that feels like home to me, the team dynamics are supportive and uplifting, more of my community and a college/university that caters to my Sports Marketing Degree. My time at Bushnell University was a good one, but I am definitely looking for a place where I feel like I belong and feels like family.
