Personal Statement

My name is Leah Holmgren, and I am a runner. I have loved many sports, but nothing compares to how I feel when I run. I am a athlete who has enjoyed playing elite soccer, water/snow skiing, rock climbing, biking, horseback riding, and being active in anyway I can.  I quickly came to the conclusion in my 8th grade year that I was not destined to be a soccer player, but I was in fact a runner trapped inside a soccer jersey.  I fell in love with running and am driven to reach my full potential as a runner and student.

Through running I have built strong and valuable relationships with my teammates, learned to make healthy choices, set goals,  prevent injury, and I have also learned the importance of perseverance.  I am very hard working and dedicated to growth both in the classroom and on the track, and put my heart into being the best teammate, athlete, and student I can be.

I see college as just the beginning to achieving my goals and purpose. I am excited to find a college that will not only allow me to grow athletically, but most importantly help me reach my future potential and purpose in my career, family, and faith. I am interested in studying Health and Nutrition or Exercise Science, and love that running blends with my career interests.

I can’t wait to see where my future in education and running will take me!
