Hello, name is Maya Clapton. I am 16 years old and am a junior attending Winston Churchill High School in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada. I am a 4.0 student and this is my first year in the International Baccalaureate Program (IB). I am a 5'11 middle blocker, and I play opposite as a secondary position and have set in past seasons. In my freshman year, I was team captain of the freshman team and took us to city semi finals. And as a sophomore this year, I started on my school's varsity team as a middle blocker. We ended our regular season 8-3, and we took gold at the Pincher Creek invitational. I am in the midst of my third club volleyball season. In 2016, my team took gold at provincials which was a huge win for our club, our team, and myself. This year we are battling to take that victory again. I have also been playing competitive beach volleyball for the past 3 years, and in 2016 my partner and I placed third in the province. Volleyball is a huge part of who I am today, and has helped me meet so many wonderful people throughout the years I have been playing. Volleyball has also helped me develop as a person, on and off the court. It's taught me to stay focused and driven through every aspect of my life and has helped me grow as an all around person.
