My name is Maci Lopeman, I am 18 years old, and I am a Libero/DS for the class of 2021 at Thatcher High School. I am a very competitive athlete. I love being a team leader and try my best to be a good example to my teammates. I have been playing volleyball for 8 years, and I am currently playing my sixth year of club. I have developed a love and passion for this sport the more I continue to play. My ultimate goal is to play volleyball at the collegiate level while earning my college degree.
I have always been a hard worker on and off the court. School has consistently been one of my top priorities, and I have been an A student throughout all my schooling. I am on the Honor Roll and am a member of the National Honors Society. I have a 3.97 GPA and currently ranked 5/125. I am currently in dual credit courses and have taken them most of my high school career.
I have participated heavily in sports throughout my life. I played basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and participated in swim team and gymnastics. I decided my sophomore year that I wanted to put most of my focus on volleyball and began to engage in weightlifting and high intensity training. I have been a varsity athlete all of my highschool years and this has given me experience and growth. I was selected 1st Team All-Conference Libero my junior and senior season.
Growing up and living in a small town has been great in many ways but it hasn’t always been easy. There is a lot of focus on sports and with that comes a lot of criticism that isn’t always constructive and from good sources. Because of this I have learned to take constructive criticism from my coaches to help me improve and block out the negativity that sometimes comes from non-credible sources. That can be difficult, but because I love the game of volleyball and want to be better, this motivates me to work even harder in order to achieve my goals.
I know that if I am going to continue my volleyball career in college, it is going to take a lot of dedication, hard work, and determination. I look forward to the challenge and the opportunity to gain a degree using volleyball as my vehicle.
