What a year, that's really all I can say. COVID has hit all of us hard so I'm not going to go on and on about how I've grown and pushed through challenges with the pandemic because I know you've heard it all before. Instead, I'm going to talk about the sport I love. Volleyball is so important to me, it has truly changed my life. It gave me confidence when I needed it most, it gave me friendships that have lasted for years, and it gave me motivation and goals in life. I want volleyball to be a part of my life for as long as I possibly can, and I'm hoping you, the coach reading this, can help me with that. University volleyball would be the ideal way to keep the sport I love in my life when I may need it the most. Anyone who loves a sport as I do knows that playing can really help reduce stress or just distract you from problems you're facing for a little while. University will definitely be one of the times I need that stress relief.
In my profile you may notice that I've put my main position as a middle hitter, but my videos mostly feature me as an outside hitter. The reason for that is last year I played as an outside hitter for the first time in my life, and found that I was pretty good at it. Coincidently, that was also the first year I started filming my games. My height made it easier for me to get kills, especially since blocking at that age isn't too developed. Nowadays I have a new coach who wants me to play as a middle again, but COVID has made that impossible since I would be too close to the setter to hit most of the middle hits. I'm stuck hitting as an outside hitter with no block for the time being, but I'm trying to make up for it by improving my strength and my mental game.
My love of this sport is what drives me to want to play in university. When all else fails I can always count on that love to motivate me, and that's why I believe I'm a good addition to any team. Love and joy are contagious, and a good team can have all the skills in the world, but they'll crumble without that joy. Volleyball is my passion, and that will never change.
