My name is Maya Hughes, I am a class of 2025 libero. I am very passionate about volleyball, and I would love to play postsecondary. A large part of what makes me a good volleyball player and teammate is my energy, as I believe that my greatest strengths are the support, encouragement, and intensity that I bring to the court. My ability to communicate and form relationships with people which is where I believe my leadership qualities derive from, which have allowed me to become the captain of my club team.
I also play beach volleyball during the summer. In doing so, I have strengthened not only my physical game, but also my mental game. Beach volleyball has allowed me to improve tremendously and to become a much stronger volleyball player.
I am very academically driven; I am currently pursuing the IB diploma (International Baccalaureate), and I hope to attend an academically challenging school. I chose to partake in this program in hopes that it would allow me to travel for my postsecondary education, which is another passion of mine. I enjoy helping and working with people which has sparked my interest in psychology and social work programs. However, I also enjoy physics and mathematics and would also be interested in pursuing higher education in that domain.
