Hi! My name is Mia Luna. I am a current 2023 student attending Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, California. I started playing volleyball at the age of 8 and began playing club volleyball at the age of 10. I have played for NorCal volleyball club for the past 7 years and enjoyed every second of it. I have been on the Varsity team of my school since my freshman year. One thing I learned from that experience was how fast and competitive the game of volleyball can be. I love the team aspect of volleyball. The feeling of working together to win and celebrating makes me feel so lively and happy. Everyday,I am looking forward to practice and tournaments because I love playing the game. In the end, it does not matter whether we win or lose, we did it as a team. Of course it is so much more fun to win! I use the competitive spirit I have inside me to push myself to play the best I can and to encourage my teammates to win.
Not only am I competitive in volleyball, but I am competitive in school. I like to always be on top of my assignments and make sure my grades are the best they can be. I am the Junior Class President, and as president, my goal is to help my class make memories they will cherish for a lifetime.
Along with volleyball and school, my culture means a lot to me. My parents are both from the Philippines, making me a Filipino-American. I am the Co-President of the Filipino American Student Organization Club at my school, and I take pride in everything I do for this club. I dedicate myself to go the extra mile to make the club the best it can be.
