Avery Barber '24 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Avery Barber.  I am very passionate about academics and volleyball.  I am determined to find a college where I can be challenged academically and play volleyball.  Although I have played a diverse spread of sports, volleyball is truly what I love the most. 

My strengths are my work ethic and team spirit. I play for VVA in Fresno CA, and have been competing on the national teams.  I have been playing club and school volleyball every year consecutively since I was 9 years old.    I have been the starting setter and team captain for my high school team for 2 years now.  Throughout high school I have held a 4.0 and higher.  Last year (2021) was my rookie year and I finished as First Team All League with the most assists (1057) and most aces.  I also was a team captain and got to compete in the California State Championship for first time in our schools history! This year as starting setter and captain I was named First Team-All League for the second year in a row. I finished the season averaging 9 assist per set with the highest ace count in our league. Also competing in D1 valley and through to the third round of State Championships.
