Update 8/20/14: I am so excited! I have verbally committed to play at Concordia University in Portland, OR. The team is great and the coaching staff is everything that I could have hoped for. Playing in NCAA Division II is a dream come true. Go Cavaliers!
Update 7/3/14: I just returned from Minneaplolis and what an amazing week. My team, NCVC17-1, played in the American division and finished with a 9-2 record, winning the Silver Medal! This was an incredible experience that I will never forget. I will upload video soon.
Update 5/13/14: Junior Nationals here I come! With the final NCVA Power League tournament finished (my team finished 35th overall), I was chosen by my club to join the NCVC 17 Black team to play DS and give defensive support at the upcoming USAV Girls Junior National Championships in Minneapolis, MN starting 6/29. This is a great opportunity and I am looking forward to competing against the best teams in the country. I am also looking to play at a few college camps this summer. This is a very exciting time.
Update 4/21/14: Just finished the NCVA Power League season and our team finished in the top 36. I am very happy. This coming weekend we are in Reno at the Far Western Qualifier. The following weekend I am in Riverside to see my brother graduate from Cal Baptist. Back to Reno on 5/10, 11 for the NCVA Power League Finals. Very busy.
Update 3/13/14: Tryouts have ended for the NCVA High Performance teams. There was only 1 team selected for my age category and I was selected to be on it, the European Global Challenge team which plays in Croatia this summer. Unfortunately, the NCVA has decided not have a team represented at the USA High Performance tournament for my age group. This was the team and tournament that I was wanting to be a part of. While I am honored to have been selected, I have decided not to go to Europe but instead participate in a few summer camps for colleges that I am considering attending.
The Power League season is in high gear and my team is preparing to go the the Pacific Northwest Qualifier tournament in Spokane, WA. We will be playing on 3/28, 3/29 and 3/30.
Update 1/13/14: I just returned home from my High School team "end of the year" banquet. I was great to get together with my teammates and talk about our current club teams. I was honored with being named varsity team MVP and have a sense of excitement looking toward making next year something special.
Update 11/10/13: Just returned from the tryouts at NCVC and was chosen to be on the 17 RoShamBo team. I am looking forward to meeting all of the team, and practices will start in December.
Update 7/29/13: The USA High Performance Championships have just finished in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Although my team did not finish as high as hoped, we did have a few key wins against Peru and New Zealand. I played well playing both Libero and Defensive Specialist positions throughout the tournament. There was alot of great volleyball and I enjoyed watching as many matches as I could, in addition to the playing time for my team. .
Update 7/11/13: I have just returned from a 4 day Volleyball camp at California State University in Chico, CA. There were over 100 players there and the coaches kept us working hard every day. My High School team has been going to this camp for several years and this year we had 24 girls there.
I am a very sports active person and have found that volleyball gives me the perfect combination of both individual and team competition. I have just finished playing on the NCVC 16-2 club volleyball team which finished the Power League season ranked 18th in the Northern California Volleyball Association (NCVA). While I have been a setter and defensive specialist most of my career, I also hit as an opposite hitter on my current team. I think of myself as a versatile player that can play any position on any team.
In addition to volleyball, I have been active in sports throughout my life. One of the accomplishments that I am most proud of is achieving my 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. The discipline and self-control that I had learned during my training has carried over into my volleyball playing and made me a confident and dependable player.
My older brother played college volleyball at California Baptist University and was a member of the 2011 NAIA national championship team. I have seen him succeed as a student athlete and I would like to follow in his footsteps. It is my hope to play on a college team that can compete for a championship as well.
