Ifeoma “Ify” Okeke '26 Recruiting Profile

Hi, I'm Ifeoma Okeke, mostly known by Ify,  and I am currently a freshman at Mayfair High School. My position is middle blocker/hitter and I play for Mizuno Long Beach Volleyball Club on the 16s team. My collegiate aspirations are to learn more about life through biology, and to help people with the skills and knowledge I gain during those classes. I aspire to be someone who can help others whether it be on the court, or as an everyday profession. What makes me a good candidate, is that I have a very strong work ethic, and I have been raised in a household with parents who have worked extremely hard to get where they are now. Growing up in this type of household has shaped my mindset into one that likes to work hard for things that I want to accomplish. I give respect at all times, I work hard, and I take constructive criticism. As a team leader, I always try to give helpful and honest tips to my other teammates to help them out. Something that makes me different from other recruits is my character, and how I treat my academics and athletics. I have a positive and shy personality. Being shy has made me such a better athlete because my coaches have given me opportunities to come out of that shell, and become a social and more energetic person on the court. I am a person who is trusting and caring when it comes to everyone I meet. I treat everyone the same and come to them as someone they can rely on. Academic wise, I have always tried to challenge myself when it comes to the classes I take. When going into something new I always give it my full effort even if it may be more difficult than what I'm used to.
