When I was little, my mom asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up and I told her, "I want to bend and stretch my body." That statement combined with the fact I had and still have more energy than she or I knew what to do with led her to try and find a sport for me that gave me the outlet I needed to move like I wanted to move and burn energy. We tried gymnastics, softball, soccer, basketball, dance, cheerleading... you name it I gave it a shot. I'm coordinated, I love to be a part of a team, so I was pretty good at anything I tried . However, with the exception of basketball I only did one season of each of those sports because it wasn't clicking for me. I didn't feel the magic-basketball came close because I prefer that team dynamic and the freedom to move around the court, but not quite. Then I tried volleyball at school and it was love at first practice. I love being a setter because of all the opportunities to make contact with the ball and pass but I also enjoy being and outside hitter-getting the ball over the net is so satisfying from that position . I've played one season of middle school volley ball, then I played it in my freshman year at high school and now I have played two seasons of club volleyball. Just prior to my first season, my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostrate cancer. He couldn’t attend any of my games but my mom sent him so many videos and he was super proud me. Volleyball helped distract and support me through a really tough year. He passed shortly before my second season and volleyball is still helping me move forward and stay strong. I have made so many friends because of volleyball , we do team bonding all the time and means a lot to me. I just want to keep playing volleyball because it means so much to me.
