I would love to play a high level of volleyball at a college with good academics.
I currently play as a pin hitter as I am a good all around player but I would also be very happy to play as a Libero or DS in college. I also play a lot of doubles beach volleyball. I have managed to win or finish in the top 2-4 teams at most Northern California beach tournaments while staying competitive with the top 24 teams in the larger Southern California tournaments that attract teams from all over the western US. I enjoy what playing in the sand does for my overall training, improved defense, speed, agility, jump height, touches, dives, serve placement and more. That has made a huge positive impact on my indoor game.
Overall, I work super hard at school and volleyball. I finished top in my class academically in my Freshman and Sophomore years and on target for Junior year as well with the highest level of classes possible including the most advanced math and science tracks, honors Spanish and extracurriculars in journalism and chemistry. I have been a writer for the local town newspaper and also held internships in chemistry labs at UC Santa Cruz and Stanford University. My high school is a smaller private school (~300 students in the high school) but it does have excellent academics and decent sports. Along with living the the San Francisco Bay Area, that has a number of great club teams, I feel extremely lucky to have the best of both worlds in sports and academics. After all, I do like to compete both on the court and in the classroom and enjoy a high level of play and interaction in both!
Ultimately, I hope to play volleyball at a high level in college and build on my love for STEM/chemistry along with journalism and writing!
