Althea Morris '24 Recruiting Profile

One of the most amazing experiences of my life was attending the USA High Performance training camps.  The first year I attended was probably the most monumental point in my volleyball career so far.  Even though I did not make the top skill level camp the first year, just reaching that goal of making the camp  pushed me that much harder and gave me the drive to reach the top level camp which I did the following year.  It gave me the time to really focus on myself and it gave me ways to mentally help myself grow as a player.   That really influenced the way I play and view the game.  It helped me learn that if I do just one last rep, take one last step, or give one last try, I can get that much better.

Being a setter has taught me the importance of leadership, drive, and teamwork.  I have a love for the game and I strive to become better as a player individually and as a team collectively.  I have become a confident, encouraging, and determined person because of volleyball.  I have applied these same skills in my academics by always pushing to get one more question or learn one more thing.  I have learned more from the losses than the wins, and I have translated that into my life.  I want a program that will support my academic goals.  I believe I have the drive, the physical and mental abilities, and the love for the game to competitively play in college.  I believe my work ethics of leadership, supportiveness, confidence, and teamwork will positively impact your program.  After playing five sports and being captain over many years, I know I can succeed for your team!
