Hi, I’m Elodie Danet, a left handed setter and I couldn’t imagine not playing competitive college volleyball. I remember my first day on the court with my first club team and my coach said “wow, Elodie you have beautiful hands, you want to be our setter”. YES was my answer, and it was the best decision I’ve made and the focus of my athletic career.
On the court I truly believe I am a servant leader where my goal is not to stand out, not to pull focus, not to expect accolades. My job, quite simply, is to make everyone around me better. I know every set isn’t perfect, just like every pass or hit is not perfect. But if I can turn that pass into a good set or put up a great set to help the hitter achieve their goals, then I know I am doing all that I can for my team.
I’ve been told by my trainers and coaches that I am extremely coachable and quickly apply what I have learned. I think I apply this same philosophy in all areas of my life. In school, I listen, work hard and achieve my goals. In fitness, I eat right, I work out in multiple disciplines, and stay focused on healthy choices. In life, I care, I listen, a good family member, friend, and person.
I find that volleyball is a lot like academics where I have maintained a 4.4 GPA average since starting high school. I work hard, give it 120% and while results are not immediate the journey itself tells of success. I have achieved many academic goals such as memberships in National Honors Society, Principal Honors Award, Student Council, ASB, and currently on my way to achieving Gold Award in Girl Scouts.
I want to attend a college where I can achieve my goals both competitively in volleyball and academically in the classroom. I’d love to talk to you about your program and my fit within the team.
