Keeping three part time jobs during my Junior year really challenged my ability to manage a busy schedule all while playing volleyball for both high school and club teams. My goals, both academically and athletically are what motivates me to keep up with such a hectic schedule. I have been successful at remaining on Honor Roll each quarter since junior high and throughout high school. I have had a lot of practice at managing a busy schedule as I am also President of my high school’s Polynesian Dance Club, was assistant coach of our high school boys volleyball team, and I am part of a polynesian dance school outside of high school. My biggest attributes are my strong will, my ability and willingness to learn and grow as a person and athlete, and my goal driven motivation. I push myself on and off the court, knowing that I need both to help me reach my biggest goal of playing volleyball while getting a high quality college education.
I have had experience in leadership roles throughout my academic and athletic career. I was class President of my 7th grade class, and captain of several of my volleyball teams, both high school and club and am captain of my varsity team. I have a take charge attitude, but know when to let others take the lead. I’ve experienced playing other sports throughout my life, but my one true love is volleyball. I work hard on my down time to strengthen my body and work on building my skill level. I have not had the opportunity to attend many camps or receive personal training, as I come from a lower income family. My parents both work very hard to provide for myself and my brothers so I do what I can with the support of my family to put in work off the court so I can keep up with other players that do have those opportunities. I’ve learned to be appreciative of our financial situation because it motivates to work harder, knowing that I can make a different life for myself through volleyball and a college education.
