Since I was 8 years old, I played several sports. At 10, in school, I participated in CYO Basketball and Volleyball, and in club, Girls NCVA Power League. Volleyball immediately became my favorite game, so I worked hard to improve my skills and strengths in defense and in offense. In my first year of club, I started in the middle due to being the tallest in my team. Years following, I moved to outside and played all positions as team captain in both my school and club teams.
Moving to high school, I took the Wallenberg varsity team to the playoffs and moved the team up from CIFSF Division 2 to compete in Division 1 the following year. At 16, I decided to join the Women’s SF Dragons volleyball team and took home 1st place from the 71st Annual NACIVT in New York City. In club, I decided to play up in the 18s division for higher competition and helped SF Juniors 18-1 finish 7th in the NCVA Regional Championship.
Driven by passion, my goal in college is to push myself both athletically and academically so that I can give back to others who also aspire to be. I am a strong leader with a positive attitude. I learn quick and work hard with my teammates and coaches to achieve excellence. I am very competitive, yet I get along with athletes on both sides of the court. At school, I aim to maintain good academics and hope to study medicine related to Kinesiology. I am able to impact my team both in and outside of the court to play stronger and win. I believe that my greatest strengths are support, passion, determination and hard work because these qualities help create an optimistic, positive team player. While I have yet to discover where I will leave my mark in this world, I know that education is the foundation and key to my future.
