Hi! My name is Laila Braimah, I am class of 2026, and I play at Taft High School and Lava West in Los Angeles, California. Since my first time playing at 9, I can't get enough. Some of my best weeks are when I have beach practice, high school workouts, and club training daily. My mom (who played in college) was my first coach, and she taught me the basics and encourages me to this day. I decided to join club once I was 11, and I never looked back. I have played every position at some point, and I thoroughly enjoyed every single one. At 12, I officially became a setter, but once I started high school, I discovered that I was good as an outside as well.
I am a well balanced athlete who has been able to maintain good grades along with spending as much time as possible on the volleyball court. I have a high volleyball IQ, which allows me to lead and make good decisions under pressure in game situations. I'm very coachable and motivated to always improve my game. I support my teammates no matter what and encourage them on and off the court. I am very competitive and motivated to win but also know how to maintain positivity and energy through tough games. In club, I'm a starting setter, while in high school I'm a starting outside hitter. I am comfortable in every roll and understand the importance of playing whatever position can best support the team's success. I'm not afraid of a challenge, and have risen to earn a starting position on a team where I didn't begin as a starter.
