January 19, 2016
After graduation, in January of 2016, I plan on enrolling at College of the Desert (Palm Desert, CA 92260) for the spring semester to start my pursuit on achieving my Bachelor’s degree in business and minor in psychology. In addition, I’ll return to my high school graduation ceremony in June to “walk” with my class and receive my diploma. The next step into my future is to relocate to Palm Desert, CA., the summer of 2016. I plan on challenging my volleyball skills as a player of the Lady Roadrunners, for 2016 and 2017, all the while maintaining a part-time job and my grades while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree.
The next step will be to transfer to either a U.C., Cal State or out of state university in either Arizona or Missouri while pursuing upper division courses in business and psychology for my Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
The business major had become more focused, since I have joined yearbook. This club has provided new perspectives on group interpersonal relationships, marketing, and the experience of providing a quality product that has to deal with money and budgets with project manager beginnings. When I first joined yearbook, I was a designer; I designed the layouts of pictures, stories, and the captions. When I returned I fulfilled the position of being a Photo Editor, I then managed multiple assignments and assign staff photographers to cover important events, provide instruction and guidelines for proper photos and how to capture stories through pictures. This experience allows me to see how synergistic activities and organizations are important to my future pursuits.
I have also been playing competitive volleyball since my freshman year. I’ve played for Morongo Volleyball Club, Highway 62 Volleyball Club and am currently playing for Desert Sports Volleyball Club in Palm Desert. Coming from a small town, I had the bug to achieve greater things, so when Highway 62 Volleyball Club didn’t have a team for me, (due to the lack of players) I joined Desert Sports Volleyball Club. This meant commuting 120 miles to and from home twice a week to go to practice. By making this decision, I’m not only a much better and stronger athlete, but as an individual and I continue to strive for progress and competition.
For these specific reasons I believe this shows that I'm responsible and determined to achieve my goals. I've graduated early to obtain a jump start against my peers and to gain experience in the work force because I understand the rules of society. I understand that everything is based on competition and I decided my sophomore year of high school that I will be successful in what I plan to do.
Respectfully,
Allixandria Durrum
