I started playing volleyball in fifth grade. At that time I played soccer and swam too, but something was different about volleyball. The yelling and screaming, the intense looks on everyone's faces, the not knowing if you were going to win or lose and by how much, the speed and the noise intrigued me. I fell in love with the sport and eventually started to play beach volleyball too. Volleyball is now a year-round sport for me. This year I played on the varsity team at my high school, I'm playing on a club team with girls in an older age group, and I just earned a position on an elite beach volleyball team that will play in tournaments all over Southern California this summer.
My coaches and teammates will tell you I bring leadership, a positive attitude, strength, communication, and joy to my team. I like to have fun while still being tough. I am often the team captain, or leading the cheers. I hope to continue to play volleyball while in college, and to be coach someday.
While in college I plan to pursue a degree in nursing or physical therapy because I like to help people. I have registered for sports medicine and physiology classes at my high school for my junior year and should have a better understanding of what I want to study after taking those classes.
