I have been playing volleyball for five years. Prior to volleyball I played both softball and basketball but nothing compares to how much I enjoy playing volleyball. When I started high school I began competing in track & field. Track provides me a different area of competition while also training me for the plyometric and quickness needed for volleyball, the two sports go well together. I enjoy track but love volleyball and want to continue to play at the collegiate level.
I take pride in working hard in everything I do. I know that at 5’5” I’m at a significant disadvantage to many in the volleyball world. I consider that a challenge to improve my vertical jump and to out train my competition. My dad is a football and track coach, he has taught me how to Olympic lift in the weight room and how to train at a high level. My greatest strength is my competitive nature but it’s also my weakness, I take losing hard and personally.
Academically I compete at the same level that I do in sports, every assignment, quiz and test is an event that needs to be trained for to succeed. My current GPA is 3.42 and I am seriously disappointed with anything other than an A or B. I would like to study Psychology in college and one-day work in a field where I can help people and hopefully make a difference.
