My spirit, work ethic and positive attitude are contagious. This year was voted Miss Jaguar for my High School Volleyball team for my willingness to play any position, bring a can do attitude to every practice and each and every point. My ability to shake off mistakes and focus on the next play allowed me to flourish playing front and back row. Additionally, my focus on the positive and constant encouragement helps my teammates look forward, never back. I try to bring this energy to all I do, whether in the classroom, in the gym or during my volunteer position at a physical therapy practice.
For two years, I played both competitive soccer and volleyball practicing several hours a day multiple times a week. Doing this while attending the Number 1 rated academic school in Colorado (recently rated as high as top 40 Best High School in the Nation according to US News and World Report, ranked 67 in 2021). Very proud to maintain a 3.5 GPA, non-weighted as D'Evelyn does not weight for honors or AP classes. Also, earned my academic varsity letter in my Sophomore year, which I consider one of my high school highlights.
I feel being a multi-sport athlete has helped my play, but more importantly "Athletic IQ" and ability to manage my time. Have played soccer since as long as I can remember, but found a passion in volleyball as I began my career freshman year. Freshman year earned varsity letter in volleyball and was a member of League and District Champ team, winning our way into the State Quarterfinals. As a 5'8" middle I had to compete for every block, kill and dig. Additionally, was forced to out think my competition in the front line, which resulted in All Conference Honorable Mention my sophomore year. Lead team in blocks and 6th in Conference the same year. Junior year lead team in blocks and serving percentage as well as finishing 2nd in Conference for total blocks earning 2nd Team All Conference with a career .200 hitting percentage.
This year will be my first year playing full time/club Volleyball with The Edge in Colorado. I'm excited to improve my game and become an offensive and defensive threat on the court. Additionally, will continue to push myself in the classroom taking honors and AP classes.
