Jaelyn Douglas '22 Recruiting Profile

I was a redshirt at the University of Alaska Anchorage for my freshman year ('22-'23) and took the opportunity to grow my skills under Coach Green.  When Coach Green unexpectedly retired at the end of the season, I made the decision to complete my freshman year in Alaska and then transfer back to the lower 48.  I now attend San Diego Mesa College (JUCO), where I have been playing middle hitter and occasionally right side this year, as a redshirt freshman.  I will have three years of eligibility left after the '23-'24 school year.

When I am not in the gym, I try and go outside and stay active with my friends or family.  In my home state of Colorado, I love to go hiking, swimming, paddle boarding, mountain biking, and sometimes I climb the Incline in Manitou Springs.  Last year, I had the opportunity to enjoy night hiking and viewing the northern lights while I was in Alaska, as well as attending the start of the Iditarod.  I have also enjoyed living in San Diego this year, and we have gone hiking on team outings and gotten to enjoy many different beaches.  I am looking forward to beach volleyball season this spring. 

I am currently majoring in Biology/Zoology and want to work with exotic or zoo animals when I graduate.  I grew up with various species of reptiles and I am looking forward to continuing my college journey, and hope to secure a zoo internship related to my career aspirations.
